Mandatory NIMS Training
North Carolina authority for this mandate for training originates within the following Proclamation. This has been incorporated in ordinances and approved by every County and Municipality in North Carolina.

NC Governor's NIMS Proclamation of May 11, 2005
Completion of certain FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses is required by the State of North Carolina and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All NC ARES/RACES volunteers must complete this training.
All radio amateurs operating under the auspices of ARES/RACES in the North Carolina Section are required to complete IS 100, IS 200, IS 700 and IS 800.
These courses are internet-based self study and are available free of charge from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute.
For more information, please see the NC ARES Section Training Policy.
